Almond Toaster Pastries

  • Pie crust recipe, rolled thin. Filled with brown sugar almond paste. Baked, then glazed and topped with slivered almonds.


  • 2 refrigerated pie crusts
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 cups Fisher® Slivered Almonds, toasted, divided
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 egg, beaten


  1. Prepare the filling: Blend 2 cups almonds in food processor until almonds form a paste.
  2. Add brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon and salt. Pulse until smooth.
  3. Prepare the pastries: Unroll packaged dough. Trim edges to make large squares out of each.
  4. Cut each square into thirds. Then turn, cutting into thirds again to form nine rectangles.
  5. Brush each rectangle around the edges with beaten egg.
  6. Fill each with 2 tablespoons of the almond paste, keeping ½” around the edges free of filling.
  7. Press the remaining dough over filled bottoms.
  8. Flatten filling gently with fingers pressing out any pockets of air.
  9. Close edges using tines of a fork and poke the tops with a few holes to allow steam to escape.
  10. Brush tops with beaten egg.
  11. Place pastries on parchment lined baking sheet and put in freezer while pre-heating oven to 400°F.
  12. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown.
  13. Allow to cool on wire rack.
  14. Prepare the glaze: Combine powdered sugar with vanilla, cinnamon and 3 tablespoons warm water and whisk to combine.
  15. Pour over cooled pastries and sprinkle with remaining toasted almonds.
