Pecan Walnut Filling

  • For a Fresh Twist: Add flavor extracts like mint, maple, rum, cinnamon or citrus peel.


  • 1 1/4 cup nuts, very finely chopped (walnuts, pecans or combo of both)
  • 1/3 cup sugar (white or dark brown)
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons water (or liquor of choice)


  1. Mix ingredients thoroughly.
  2. Use filling to top store-bought or homemade shortbread tarts. It can also be used to top cookies!
  3. Add a dollop of whipped cream and garnish with a walnut.
